Andrea was born and raised in Northeastern Ohio and lives there in North Canton with her husband Ray Gillis who is also a caver.  She has been caving for almost ten years and started out with the Loyalhanna Grotto in western Pennsylvania.  She considers PA to be her second home and her favorite place to cave.  So now she is trying protect the caves there and in her home state.  She has been active in several grottos especially in her home grotto, the Ohio Cavers and Climbers and the MAKC.  She has been secretary and vice chairman in both oraganizations and Chairman of the OCC.  She has spent a lot of time organizing and managing the cleanup of a cave in Ohio, Machan's Rock.  This project has been well documented and brought about some new ideas and technics for the cleaning of caves.  She hopes, through the MAKC's new education program to talk to chilren and adult about the importance of caves and saving them for future generations.
